Lepidoptera Leopard Gold™ 22.5” Fluted Emporium Vase — Prototype

Created as a prototype, this dramatic 22.5” Emporium Vase explored a more sculptural interpretation of the classic form. Mouth-blown in exceptionally substantial glass, its tall, slender body rises into an exuberant hand-formed fluted rim, richly finished in Lesley Roy’s signature Leopard Gold™.

For production, the elaborate fluted rim was ultimately refined to a smooth silhouette, creating a stronger visual relationship with the companion urn vase while making the demanding mouth-blown form more practical to produce. The original fluted design was never manufactured commercially, leaving these few prototypes as rare examples of the design’s evolution.

The substantial weight and stability of the glass were designed to support soaring branches and generous floral arrangements. Lesley Roy’s signature Old Masters crackle gives the body its softly aged luminosity, while hand-applied gold leaf and black onyx sweep across the dramatic neck and foot. Beautiful filled, it is equally commanding displayed completely on its own.
